MBG_BMW R NINET ‘HERA PROJECT’ for Chop and Roll Magazine

The Hera project arose from the collaboration of Italian craftsmen specifically selected by Chop and Roll magazine to transform the 2017 RnineT at the request of BMW Motorrad.

South Garage Moto Co. prepared the initial concept and guidelines to identify the Scrambler characteristics the motorbike would need to have. Metalbike Garage had previously created the LowRide Magazine’s RnineT aluminum bodywork which was awarded the 2017 Design Award Essenza for frame geometry at Glemseck 101.  For the Hera project, Metalbike Garage developed the design of  the motorbike and created the 3D model which was utilized in conjunction with the CNC machine to form the wooden mold used for shaping the aluminum bodywork . The new bodywork fits the frame and the BMW side brackets without needing any structural modifications. The aluminum bodywork was hand beaten into shape by the skilled craftsman at Metalbike Garage, ready for the finishing stage. South Garage oversaw the work on the saddle, the exhaust system in titanium with steel terminals, the bodywork’s lucidity and finishing graphics, the cap of the fuel tank, and the headlight as well as the mounting of specific parts supplied by leading constructors . JoNich devised the small diameter hub radii milled from a single piece, Rizoma supplied the billet parts (brake fluid reservoirs, levers, head covers, engine crankshafts, indicators integrated in the handlebar, and footrests), the Andreani Group  provided the Ohlins suspension forks with gold upper tubes and black lower hydraulic chambers, and the adjustable rear shock absorber, Grimeca created brake discs specifically for this bike, and Metzeler provided the tires.

The  official presentation took place in the post-industrial location of East Market Milano which hosted the East EICMA showroom dedicated to the world of custom-made and heralded by EICMA as the world’s most important exhibition and point of reference for two wheels.
